Senior Mining Engineer
Verum Mining Consultants is seeking a full-time Senior Mining Engineer to join our growing North American team. Reporting directly to the Partners, you will lead technical studies and site engagements on underground mining projects across Canada and the United States, with meaningful autonomy over scope, method, and delivery.
This is a senior individual-contributor role with leadership expectations: you will run your own projects, direct the work of Mining Engineers and EITs, and be a credible technical voice in front of clients, boards, and their advisors.
More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Leading surface and/or underground metal mining projects from early-stage studies through feasibility and into operational support
- Supporting the QP of record, for mining sections of NI 43-101 technical reports (PEA through Feasibility)
- Conducting technical evaluations, due diligence reviews, and independent audits for owners, lenders, and investors
- Developing and defending mine designs, production schedules, and capital and operating cost estimates
- Leading optimization and business improvement studies to enhance mine performance
- Defining project scopes, deliverables, budgets, and technical requirements with clients, and managing delivery against them
- Reviewing and approving the work of Mining Engineers and EITs, and mentoring them toward registration and independence
- Travelling to client sites across North America for inspections, assessments, and fieldwork
- Building and maintaining strong client relationships, and identifying follow-on work within existing accounts
- Contributing to proposals, fee estimates, and the growth of a new and expanding North American mining team
As our ideal candidate, you are confident, adaptable, and diplomatic — someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment where no two projects are the same. You are a strong communicator and collaborator, capable of building lasting client relationships while maintaining a calm, solutions-focused approach under pressure. You are willing to put your name to your work and to defend it.
