Mine Engineering Services
Permanent
3 - 5 years of experience

Verum Mining Consultants is seeking a full-time Mining Engineer to join our growing North American team. This is the core delivery level of our practice: you will own defined workstreams within technical studies and site engagements, working with the guidance of a Senior or Principal Mining Engineer rather than under close supervision.

You have moved past needing your work checked line by line, and you are not yet expected to carry a client relationship or sign disclosure. What we want from you is reliable, well-reasoned engineering delivered on time, and the judgement to escalate early when something does not add up.

More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Delivering defined workstreams on surface or underground metal mining projects from early-stage studies through feasibility and operational support
  • Developing mine designs, development sequences, and production schedules, and defending the assumptions behind them
  • Building capital and operating cost estimates, and running trade-off, scenario, and sensitivity analyses
  • Conducting site work — data collection and operational assistance
  • Supporting optimization and business improvement studies, and identifying where value can be gained
  • Working directly with clients on your own workstreams: answering questions, presenting results, and managing expectations on scope and timing
  • Directing and checking the work of EITs assigned to your workstream, and helping them build their experience record
  • Managing your own time, budget, and deliverables against the project plan, and flagging scope or schedule risk early

As our ideal candidate, you are dependable, precise, and commercially aware. You take ownership of your workstream without needing to be chased, you communicate clearly with clients and colleagues, and you would rather raise a problem early than defend a number you do not believe. You are comfortable on site and willing to travel.
